The rock star of mens tennis, Bernard Tomic, has been named as the ambassador of Tennis Australia’s Junior Development Series, now sponsored by Medibank in a new three-year deal.

I know Tomic is the top Australian Male tennis player at the moment, but seriously Tennis Australia.. is he a good role model?

Points:

1. In a lot of trouble with Police over driving his BMW M3
2. Was banned from the ITF Tour for a month because he walked off court refusing to play and finish a match against fellow Australian Marinko Matosevic
3. Parents are Croatian and Dad put a huge amount of pressure on Bernard from the age of 10. Tennis training many hours per day…

Roger Federer has already left the hard courts behind him and has started training on clay courts. Roger has an upcoming Davis Cup match against the United States this month in Fribourg.

30-year-old Federer is going to play Davis Cup this month at Fribourg, later he will travel to Netherland’s to take part in ABN AMRO World Tennis tournament, which kick off on 13th February.

Paola Suarez has decided to play doubles at the London Olympics with Gisela Dulko. Initally Suarez said no.. but after thinking about it for a long time she changed her mind and thought it would be fun.

There is still no word on whether it is just going to be for the Olympics or whether Suarez will return to play on the tour.

There have been rumours going around the net that Rafael Nadal is in trouble with his tax. However, all these reports are false and this has been confirmed by Rafael on his website.

Basically, Rafael hired an accounting firm to create a new company to take advantage of a Rasque region tax break, which means he would pay a lot less tax on his image rights. It seems like the Basque tax authorities are investigating, but it all seems above board.

Ivan Lendl does have enough to do (coaching Andy Murray) so he has decided to open his own International Junior Tennis Academy in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The spring class features students from Canada, New Zealand, Russia and the U.S.

“The enrollment influx from fall to spring is a tribute to the elite instruction our coaches provide students each day,” says Peter Orrell, President and CEO of Junior Sports Corporation, owner/operator of the Ivan Lendl IJTA. “Ivan Lendl IJTA offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for passionate junior tennis players to reach their ultimate potential.”

Ivan Lendl IJTA students (grades five through 12) will attend Heritage Academy as they see school as a vital piece of the puzzle.
