potitio-starace

Potito Starace had a great look on-court at Roland Garros. I only saw one of his matches but really wanted to find out who made his clothing, in the end its Le Coq Sportif.

The longish shorts have a dash of red over one pocket and orange over the other. The faded blue bandana and signature neck-wear add distinct personality — cool kit.

The look? Le Coq Sportif: Challenger Black Tee, Club Black Short and Myth Tennis Shoe in white and champagne.

Roger Federer Looking Forward to Wimbledon and His Next Challenge

Fresh off his first French Open title, Roger Federer considers himself the man to beat at Wimbledon.

A day after beating Robin Soderling in the final at Roland Garros, Federer says he’s looking forward to trying to claim a sixth championship at the All England Club from June 22-July 5.

“I do think I’m the favorite, actually, with all the success I’ve had,” Federer said Monday.

His run of five consecutive Wimbledon titles ended with a five-set loss to Rafael Nadal in last year’s final.

Nadal pulled out of this week’s grass-court tournament at Queen’s Club, citing knee problems.

Referring to Wimbledon, Nadal said: “I hope I can be ready to compete by then.”

Federer expects to see his nemesis at the All England Club.

“It seems like it’s not 100 percent serious, his knee injury. I only wish him the best and I hope it’s not true that he will miss Wimbledon. I think it’s a lot of speculation at the moment,” Federer said. “He wasn’t taping his knees here in Paris. He seemed fine, [from] what I saw, anyway. I’ve played him so many times, I can tell when he’s in pain and when he’s not.”

Federer said his back feels OK — he took a six-week break this year because it was bothering him — but he also said he was considering withdrawing from the grass-court tournament in Halle, Germany, that began Monday.

As for his game, Federer figures he can keep improving, particularly on grass and hard courts, “when I can go for my shots more.”

He already has won five championships at Wimbledon, five at the U.S. Open and three at the Australian Open. Now — after having lost to Nadal in the three previous French Open finals — Federer looks forward to being the defending champion at Roland Garros for the first time.

“I’m sure I’m going to enjoy Paris even more in the future,” he said, “because the pressure is off.”

Andy Murray With His Thoughts On The Queens Club Tournament

Here is an interview with Andy Murray about his thoughts leading up to the Queens Club Tournament in which he is the number one seed and favourite.

Mario Ancic Ruled Out of Wimbledon and Davis Cup Against USA

Mario Ancic has ruled himself out of Wimbledon and the Davis Cup tie against the USA. Ancic has still not completely healed from his mononucleosis which he first got two years ago and he has opted to take a break from tennis.

“Don’t ask me when I’ll return, because I don’t even know the answer myself. Health is most important. I have to listen to my body. The fact that I cancelled my favourite tournament (Wimbledon) and an important match with Americans, tells it all about the seriousness of the situation.”. said Mario Ancic.

Rafael Nadal’s Coach Stated “Parisian Crowd Are Stupid!”

toni-nadalToni Nadal who is the coach of the 4 time French Open champion Rafael Nadal said some quite rude remarks about the French crowd on Spanish radion Station Cadena Ser.

Toni was none too pleased to hear how little the Parisian crowd was supporting the 4-time defending champion:

In an interview with the Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, Toni Nadal said there was some truth to the phrase: “There is only one set of supporters that is worse than the French and that is the Parisians.”

“They say it themselves and it’s true, the Parisian crowd is pretty stupid. I think the French don’t like it when a Spaniard wins,” he added. “Wanting someone to lose is a slightly conceited way of amusing yourself. They show the stupidity of people who think themselves superior.R”

Rafael had made mention of the crowd’s waning support in his post-match presser after the loss saying,

Maybe at one stage they supported Soderling more than me, and that was a bit sad. But I wish when I’m back they can support me a bit more in key moments.

I know it is great to see the underdog do well, but we are still talking about 4-time defending champion who was little put back by the lack of support. Although I can see why the French crowd might have supported Soderling, because it was a turn point in French Open history and its great to see something like this happen.
