John McEnroe has publicly stated that he thinks Bernard Tomic will have opportunities in his career to win a major.
Bernard has got more upside than any young guy I see out there, McEnroe told reporters in Adelaide on Monday, mirroring comments made by world No.11 Juan Martin del Potro.
He’s going to get stronger – that will help him. He is right there with the young guys as one who can make the breakthrough and win some majors.
Now.. if McEnroe says it .. you know it isnt going to happen!
Andy Murray was on a recent sports show here in the UK where he tried to recreate Roger Federer’s serve trick shot from the viral ad that has over 8 million hits on YouTube. Enjoy!
In 2007 Andy Murray nearly produced a triple bagel against Martin in the first round of the Australian Open. This made me wonder if there are going to be any triple bagels in this years Australian Open 2012.
Do you think Nadal, Federer or Djokovic will have an opportunity to join a very small group with a triple bagel in a Grand Slam?
I never thought I would see this. Novak Djokovic joined the Bryan Brothers Band on stage to perform a song. They performed at the KSWISS Desert Smash held at La Quinta Resort in Palm Springs, CA. By all reports it was very entertaining!
Novak Djokovic has announced that he will be training with Bernard Tomic in January’s lead up to the Australian Open. Djokovic thinks that Tomic has a lot of potential and could even climb to a top 10 spot in the world (one day).
Indian Wells has really pulled out all the stops and increased their prizemoney. Each singles winner will win a cool $1 million with finalists, semi-finalists and quarterfinalists will now earn $500,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
Its great to see they are stepping up the prizemoney, but they should thinking about getting the points increased to match.
Matthew Ebden had a great 2011 for results and Tennis Australia has decided to award him a wildcard into the Brisbane ATP Tour event.
Ebden is currently Australia’s number 2 mens player, so Im sure we will be seeing a lot of him in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. I just hope he can play some great tennis and get the results he deserves.
The Bryan Brothers have signed up to play the 2012 US Men’s Clay Court Championship April 9-15 at River Oaks Country Club. The Bryan Brothers have already won this tournament four times and Im sure they will be very keen to add a 5th US Men’s Clay Court title.
p.s. The Bryan Brothers started to follow us on Twitter yesterday. Make sure you follow them! @Bryanbros
Mikhail Youzhny has just earned his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Moscow. This a great achievement as he has also been trying to play tennis from time to time.
“I took my coach (of 17 years), Boris Sobkin, and my family and friends as well, and the guy who helped me with the degree. There were some professors from the university there. I was a bit nervous because it was something new, it’s not like a tennis match I’m going to play, which I do every week. I was answering questions and reasoning, so of course it’s different. But actually, when I think about what I said, it’s my life, what I’m doing every day on court.”
Congrats Mikhail!! It must have been tough to be playing and also studying since 2005.
Roger Federer hasnt had his best year in terms of results, but he has produced some amazing points throughout the course of the year. Here is a great video that showcases his best points in 2011.
Bernard Tomic is now claiming police harassment. Tomic was reportedly under investigation for dangerous driving. Now the wannabe tennis superstar is claiming that the police are targeting him specifically. Basically, he says he is being victimised by a ‘jealous’ Gold Coast traffic cop who has pulled him up several times while out and about in his distinctive bright orange BMW M3.
One thing I have learnt is to never get on the bad side of cops!
“He doesn’t like me for some reason … he’s always on my tail,” the teenager said.
“I think it’s really bad. I haven’t done a thing wrong – I just go about my business as a tennis player.”
