Djokovic No To Serbia Open

Novak has announced that he will not play in the upcoming Serbia Open scheduled to start in Belgrade on Monday 30 April.

Following the death of his beloved Grandfather during the recent Monte Carlo Masters Novak feels he needs time to “try restore my emotional energy”.

I believe this is the correct decision, the time will be better spent with his family and give himself to grieve. There are some very important weeks ahead for Novak and he needs to be completely refreshed in order to put in his best.

8th Time Lucky For Nadal

Rafael Nadal won the Monte Carlo Masters for the 8th consecutive year and proved 8th time round that he could end his losing streak to Novak Djokovic winning 6-3 6-1 in the final!

While this win has been a long time coming, the amount of emotion from Rafa still surprised me, he looked so elated after the match you could tell how much this win means to him. While Novak is still number 1, he has a great number of points to defend throughout the clay season, if Nadal can repeat the superior clay court game we saw yesterday then will the King of Clay enter Roland Garros with Rome and Madrid under his belt too? Although it’s still premature to say Rafa can beat Novak in a Wimbledon final as Djokovic’s error count was appalling and he wasnt particularly aggressive but its definitely a step in the right direction for the world number 2!

Djokovic is Going to Struggle to Beat Nadal on the Clay in Monte Carlo

Tomorrow is set to be an amazing Monte Carlo Masters Final. The final will see Novak Djokovic playing Rafael Nadal. It has been very windy in Monte Carlo and it seemed as though Djokovic was struggling today with the conditions. Nadal however, seemed to have a great time on the clay.

I think tomorrow its going to be a very tough time for Djokovic! I think Nadal will win in straight sets.

Novak Djokovic Struggling in the Wind Again Berdych in Monte Carlo

Novak Djokovic is just hanging in during his semifinal match currently underway at the Monte Carlo Country Club. Djokovic lost the first set 6-4 and is current 3-0 in the second set, even though Tomas Berdych has had break points in both of Djokovic’s service games.

It is very blustery conditions in Monte Carlo and the court surface has given the players a lot of trouble in this match and previously in the week.

Its going to be very interesting to see if Djokovic can come back.

Novak Djokovic vs Alexandr Dolgopolov – ATP Monte Carlo 2012 Highlights

Djokovic wins despite grandfather’s death

Novak Djokovic with his grandfather after winning Wimbledon in 2011.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic had a sad yet happy day. The sad part is that his grandfather passed away, but the happy part is that he won his third round match against Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov in Monte Carlo.

The Serb started the match wiping away a tear before his first serve. This was because earlier in the morning, he had found out that his grandfather and his hero, Vladimir, had passed away at age 83. Djokovic had said that his grandfather was the one who ““always told me to fight.”

Djokovic ended the match with a score of 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

My condolences to Novak and his family, and best of luck in the Monte Carlo Masters.

Andy Murray into Quarter Finals of Monte Carlo

After a very close and uncomfortable 11 games Andy Murray has progressed to the quarter finals at the Monte Carlo Masters after Frenchman Julien Benneteau slipped on a hole in the centre court of the masters tournament injuring both his ankle and wrist, the final score was 6-5 to Murray.

Benneteau played some inspiring tennis to worry a passive Murray who wasn’t doing much with the ball other than putting it back into play, though the more worrying factor is the 45% first serve. You could tell after the opening two games that Andy wasn’t feeling very happy on court, with some very angry yells that we really haven’t seen since he appointed Ivan Lendl as his coach. When we approached the heart of the first set you could see Andy up the intensity, stepping in and becoming more aggressive on court, though he didn’t get too for long as the Frenchman tumbled over on the clay grabbing his ankle, sobbing in agony. After treatment to his ankle he played through Murrays service game but after treatment to his wrist, Julien decided he was unable to proceed.

Though we must feel for the Frenchman his injury is not the key element here, the spot in which Benneteau fell is the exact same spot in which Juan Monaco fell two days ago and had to retire from his encounter against Robin Haase. For a dangerous hole on a clay court to be missed once is careless but twice is completely unacceptable and the groundsmen of the tournament should be in a lot of trouble over this! Murray will play the winner of Tomas Berdych and Kei Nishikori in the Quarters.

Terrible Conditions at ATP Tournament in Casablanca

Robin Haase and other top players had an awful time at the ATP tournament in Casablanca.

“At the tournament, the bathrooms are so dirty that you want to keep your clothes and shoes on when taking a shower,” Haase wrote on his website. “Some players don’t shower at all and decide to take one at the hotel in the evening. If the showers are that disgusting, I hope you can image yourself how the toilets are. Some players even take their own toilet paper with them.”

Haase also claimed that he and other players were robbed. “Fortunately not my computer or other valuables which however did happen to other players.”

ATP you really need to sort this out ASAP.
