We have been able to get one of our writers a press pass into the BNP Paribas Paris Masters event next month. Expect to see great coverage from the event including photos, videos and great reports on the matches.
I wish I was the one behind the scenes who could interview all the players!
Looking forward to your reports Clare!
p.s. If you are attending a tennis event around the globe and want to get a press pass to exclusively report on the event for TheTennisTimes.. then get in touch.
Former French Open champion Michael Chang has voiced his surprise at how he was depicted by Andre Agassi in his autobiography titled Open.
In the book, Agassi made some comments about Chang’s devotion to Christianity which sort of made Chang scratch his head a little bit. Chang was also flustered at the fact that Agassi let another tennis legend, Jim Courier know about the contents of the book before its release but never spoke to him about it at an exhibition with only a week left for publication of the book.
“I read the excerpts, and it’s hard for me not to shake my head a little bit,” Chang said. “I wonder if, to some degree, whether some of the stuff he wrote was more or less to sell the book… It was kind of odd. Andre was very harsh on me for my Christian faith, but at the same time, I believe he understands where I am as far as my faith. We actually used to have Bible studies together early on in our careers. He was upset that I would go and thank the Lord for my matches, which, back then, was probably not as commonplace as you see today. I would have thought that he would know me better than that; that me going out and expressing that has nothing to do with saying, ‘I’m better than you, or ‘God loves me more than he loves you.’ That’s not the case.”
Chang did say that Andre was pretty harsh on everyone, and it’s just the way he is; but he has had a pretty good relationship with him for the most part.

We have just launched a new tennis community over at Reddit. Reddit is a system in which users can signup for Free and then submit and vote up their favourite news stories.
Once there you simply need to register for Free. Then you need to make sure you have joined the TennisNews reddit. Finally, once all that is complete then you are able to submit any tennis link you want to the community.
The aim of this is to keep all the best tennis news sources in one place and let the tennis community vote up the articles that they like in which will bring only the best to the top, but will also allow the users to find interesting new tennis resources.
Please help us build up this community and really try to give a great resource back into the communities hands.
Here at The Tennis Times we have made some very large changes to the site and its design today. The content within the site hasn’t changed but we have updated the feel of the site with the aim of providing a much better experience for our readers.
Colours
The colour change will be the first thing that you notice coming back to the site. We have aimed to have a much lighter site that is easier to read. The fonts are also very simple and aim to help our readers easily run through the articles.
Categories
All major categories can be found at the top of the page which allows readers to quickly jump and find what they are looking for. If you are still unable to find the article you are looking for then simply use the search tool found at the top of every page.
Sidebar
Our new sidebar is great for navigation. We have recent articles, tags, and pages in our sidebar. Additionally we have kept our old attendance section which allows us to see how many people have been visiting compared to the Grand Slams.
Advertising
The new site is a lot better than the old site in terms of advertising. We have eliminated most of the useless sponsors that weren’t helping our readers. Now we have a new sponsorship placement at the top of the page and one in the sidebar. We are hoping in the coming months to open up sponsorship/fixed monthly placements at the top of the sidebar.
Overall
We at The Tennis Times are very happy with the new site and how it is going to help our readers find out whats new in the world of tennis.
If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see added to The Tennis Times then please get in touch.
As most of you have already noticed we have added a new image to our sidebar here at The Tennis Times. The aim of this image is to show our readers how many people have been attending the Grand Slams for 2009, and then just for good measure we have added how many people have visited The Tennis Times for 2009. I thought this would just be an interesting addition and we are aiming to beat all Grand Slams by the end of 2009!
Here at The Tennis Times we have been thinking for a long time about services that we can add which will help players and readers of our site. Im writing this post because we are thinking of adding a Forum to the site. The forum will discuss topics such as tennis news, latest results, looking for sponsorships, tennis jobs and more. I realise there are a few large tennis forums already out there in the market, but do you think it will be benficialy and more the point it will get used on The Tennis Times?
Here at The Tennis Times we have been a little occupied over the Christmas period be we are gearing up for the Australian Open started very soon.
So what can you expect from The Tennis Times for 2009? We are aiming to have more tennis news from all tours than any other news source. Sick of hearing just about the top players in the world? We will also let you know about the lower level tour players and results. The Tennis Times is also tired of just reading the major results so we will be bringing you overall results from all tours at the end of every week. As well as all that we are hoping to provide more equipment reviews and more player profiles as well.
We would also like to hear your thoughts about what you want to see on the site for 2009, so please let us know via our contact page. Overall stay tuned for a lot of developments in 2009!
Here at The Tennis Times we are trying to find ways everyone can get all the latest tennis news easily and quickly.
We have now added a new widget to Widgetbox in which you can use and place on your website, myspace, blogs, igoogle, netvibes, and other start pages. Head here to grab it!
In the last month The Tennis Times has really been taking off. We have welcomed a Michael to the team, who has bought some great insights and articles to The Tennis Times. Additionally, The Tennis Times has been able to grab some syndication deals, including Tennis News, Tennis-X and Sportsnipe.com.
Tennis News – Bob Larson has a great group of tennis related sites and we would really like to thank Bob for adding The Tennis Times onto his home page permanently, and we look forward to getting some of our articles featured on his site!
Tennis-X – Tennis-X has a great site which is focused around providing all kinds of tennis related information. Tennis-X also has a great blog syndication feed, which we have been lucky enough to join.
Sportsnipe.com – The guys over at Sportsnipe were great to talk to and it is great to now see the full Tennis Times feed on their tennis section!
Here at The Tennis Times we are going to be launching a new service in the coming months, this service is a marketplace. What can be found on the marketplace? Well on The Tennis Times marketplace you will be able to find Tennis Jobs, College Tennis opportunities and Club Tennis opportunities. If there is anything else you would like to see on the marketplace, please get in touch and make a suggestion.
Here on The Tennis Times we are launching a section of the site called player profiles. Every day or so we will be introducing our readers to a new player, these players are going to from all levels and not just the top players. Aside from the introduction to player we will also be trying to do a basic scouting report on the player to help give you ideas if you ever have to play them in a tournament.
If we have missed anything that you would like to see in our Player profiles then please get in touch and let us know.
We have only been producing The Tennis Times for less than a week and already we are getting acknowledgements. The Tennis Times has now been added to Alltop. Alltop is a sort of directory which showcases the best resources in various areas and then allows you to read the top 5 headings from those resources.
The Tennis Times can be found of course in the tennis section right here. http://tennis.alltop.com.
Welcome to The Tennis Times, a new tennis site that is focused on making tennis a little bit more fun. What can you expect on the site? Well we will be profiling players, talking about tennis news, trying to assist players at all levels and of this from an ex players point of view.
I have been playing tennis since I was about 12 and have traveled all over the world playing in different tournaments, club tennis in Europe and also coaching some up and coming players. I just wanted to write this blog from an ex player point of view to help people understand what goes through a players head and to help up and coming players learn where to play, how to improve and how to make some money.
If you have any question you want me to answer, just head over to our contact page and ask away. I will try to respond to all questions either via email or in an article.
Enjoy!
