Novak Djokovic has amazing confidence on court. Here he talks a little bit about that. This area of tennis is not talked about as much as it should be.

Thanks Novak, for the video comments.

I also believe that confidence is something that you build and grow. But, confidence is also something that is the result of good timing.

I’ve admired your precise timing for years and I was shocked to see your difficulty in the first set of the 2nd round at Indian Wells, 2016.

In that first set, your timing was quite poor, and this affected your accuracy, your reaction time, your coordination, your speed, and your confidence.

Timing is also a part of your perception (yes, it’s connected to the state your timing). And, with poor timing, that is why you had unsuccessful line call challenges in that set, and that strange reaction to the blooper that was unexpectedly ‘in’.

From my perspective, you did not fully recover your timing for the second and third sets, but I saw that you dialed back your expectations, so that you could end with a win. Congrats!
