Jean Gachassin has been elected the new president of the French Tennis Federation (FFT) at the general assembly held at the national centre in Roland Garros. The 67-year-old received 69% of the vote and commented: “It’s a great honor and a big responsibility.”

Outgoing president Christian Bimes paid tribute to all those who had helped the sport during his 16 years at the helm. He said that he was touched by the tributes he received and confident in his successors.
