Jelena Dokic Reaches Quarter-Finals of Australian Open 2009

There has been a lot of great results at this years Australian Open. However, the story that has really captured the news in Australia has been the return of Jelena Dokic. As we all know Jelena has had a huge amount of problems in the past, but it seems as though she is finally letting her tennis do the talking.

After being away from the tour for many years now and having so much trouble with her family in the past, it is great to see that she is back in the second week of a Grand Slam. Dokic defeated Alisa Kleybanova in the round of 16, 7-5 5-7 8-6. Kleybanova was the 29th seed for the tournament and in some great form lately.

Jelena has been getting some great press in Australia for making a surprising comeback to the Grand Slam arena, especially considering she received a wildcard for the tournament. Jelena will now play Dinara Safina in quarterfinals in which the winner will have a great chance on reaching the final.
