Lleyton Hewitt Looking Forward To His Comeback At Hopman Cup 2009

Llleyton Hewitt has mentioned he is looking forward to making his comeback at the Hopman Cup in January. Hewitt has been recovering from hip surgery nine weeks ago and is getting fired up already to cause some upsets.

The tennis ace said his main goal was obviously to be fit and ready to go hard at the Australian Open at the end of that month but was happy with the way his comeback schedule has shaped up.

“The Hopman Cup tournament is a good result for me because I am guaranteed three matches in that week win, lose or draw so it’s probably the perfect opening,” Hewitt said.

Hewitt says he is looking forward to seeing young stars like Bernard Tomic, who has been likened to Hewitt, come through the ranks but to keep in mind there is a big difference between being a junior player and making it in the senior ranks.

“Tomic is obviously going to have a lot of pressure on his shoulders, but he still has to model his game on senior tennis,” Hewitt said.

“He can’t be worried about the Orange Bowl junior tournament in America or the junior grand slams because at the end of the day that’s not what counts when you get into the senior ranks.”
