3rd seed Andy Murray moved into the 2nd round of the US Open with a 6-2 6-4 6-1 win over Alexander Bogomolov Jr.

The Brit was troubled on serve throughout the match, but the true measure of a champion is whether he can pull through when he isn’t playing his best tennis, this is exactly what Murray did as he had a poor 49% first serves in but still managed to grind out a straight sets win! Russian Bogomolov was punishing every short ball with his devastating forehand and for much of the second set looked to be the stronger player, but Murray stayed solid when he needed to be and was rewarded for the grind. Although he showed improvement in the third set, he is going to have to up his level fairly quickly as he wont get away with sloppy tennis against players like Lopez (regardless of his record against him) and Raonic. Next up is world number 118 Ivan Dodig, let’s go Andy!
