Andy Murray celebrates winning a point at London 2012 Olympics

Today has been quite a day for the Brits in the Olympic tennis event, we started with three singles players and ended the day with one. World number four Andy Murray was accompanied to round two by Elena Baltacha, Heather Watson and Laura Robson, but unfortunately it was only Andy who progressed to the third round. While Baltacha lost yesterday, Both Watson and Robson played lackluster tennis throughout their matches and clearly let the pressure get to them, while they were up against Kirilenko and Sharapova who are way above them in the rankings they were at least expected to hold their nerve and play competitive tennis, this did not happen!

Murray faced Jarkko Nieminen and demolished the Finn to progress towards his dream of a gold medal, this is however more of a time to look at where we would be without Andy, when he eventually retires I personally believe our nation is going to have a harder time than the US or Australia are currently having! The British number one faces Marcos Baghdatis, his third round opponent of Wimbledon, tomorrow and is in very fine form in his quest, though tougher times are ahead.
