Professional Tennis Costs $160,000 Per Annum and Not Many Players Make a Profit

Data analyst Dr Michael Bane from Victoria University told ABC News that the average cost of competing on the professional circuit – including travel, accommodation, equipment and coaching – was approximately $160,000 per annum.

‘With rising grand-slam prize-money and better-than-ever exposure, you might think that life’s pretty glamorous for your average pro tennis player,’ Dr Bane said.

‘But a closer look at the numbers suggests you’d be wrong.’
