Sybille Bammer has just played her last ever match on the WTA Tour. Bammer announced last month at Wimbledon that she will play her final tournament at the Austrian clay-court event.

Bammer lost in the Austrian event to Yvonne Meusburger 6-2 6-1 in the first round.

“I will take a break now and enjoy some time off with my family,” said Bammer, who has a 9-year-old daughter. “I won’t regret my decision. … A comeback like Thomas Muster is having won’t happen with me.”

That is a sad news but I can understand that she wants to spend more time with her family.

It is a shame for Austrian tennis. Austria need to bring through a lot more juniors.
