Archive for: Ana Ivanovic
We can now confirm that Ana Ivanovic is dating Australian golfing sensation Adam Scott. The pair met at the start of the year in Australia and have been spending more and more time together ever since.
Scott recently pulled out of the Tiger Woods AT&T National to head over to Wimbledon and watch Ana play.
The relationship is still yet to come out officially in the public domain, but in this case it has been confirmed by several close sources.
Every year at Wimbledon there is a pre tournament players party and this year is no different. We came across a great picture of Ana Ivanovic with Virgin boss Richard Branson. Im wondering if Branson actually knows who she is or just another tactical publicity stunt.

Ivanovic, answering press questions after her first-round loss to Petrova
It says a lot about what’s happened to Ana Ivanovic’s ranking that she is the player featured on all the posters here but after the loss of most of her 2008 French Open points is ranked too low (13) to be seeded. Instead, Elena Dementieva is the top seed and Nadia Petrova, ranked 10, is seeded 7. In the first set, Ivanovic simply couldn’t get the ball back into court, while Petrova used her powerful serve and chip returns to good effect to take the set 6-1. In the second, Ivanovic used the advice her new coach gave her during the set break: don’t go for the big shots so early in the rallies. Doing that helped her get her rhythm back, and that was enough to win her the second set 6-4. And level they stayed up until 4-4 in the third set, at which point Ivanovic’s game left again.
“She was hitting the ball better, and I felt I should go for more,” Ivanovic said afterwards. “It was a mistake.” It was: the same errors that plagued her in the first set cost her the last two games and the match, 6-4. Even so, as Ivanovic says, the last two years she hasn’t played any warm-up events before Wimbledon and still managed to make the semis in 2007. I suppose every player always has to think positively, especially when talking to the press, but last year’s Wimbledon is where Ivanovic’s slump started. This year, she’s going in having just fired her coach of three months (the veteran Craig Kardon, who coached Navratilova to her ninth Wimbledon title) and convinced she wants a full-time coach but unsure whom to pick. She will have more match practice, though: she’ll be playing doubles tomorrow.
Of course, there’s no shame in losing to Petrova on grass. Twice a quarterfinalist at Wimbledon and last year’s beaten Eastbourne finalist, Petrova was determined not to lose this match. “It would have been very hard to be out in the first round.” Petrova is also playing doubles here, with Mattek-Sands, who will also be her partner at Wimbledon. “We’re having a good time,” Petrova said. She’s not letting Mattek-Sands pick her clothes, though.

Today we can reveal the outfit that Ana Ivanovic will be wearing during her matches at the All England Club for the Wimbledon Championships.

Ana Ivanovic has announced on her website that she has split with her coach of only three months, Craig Kardon. This is a very short appointment for Kardon who has previously coached 18 time Grand Slam champion Martina Navratilova.
Ivanovic has seen a slide in her ranking ever since she reached the number one spot for a short time last year. Currently Ivanovic is ranked 13th in the world after she lost a whole load of points from her French Open performance.
While searching for a new coach, she will use temporary coaches for Eastbourne and Wimbledon later this month.
Oh the life of a professional tennis player must be fun. Novak Djokovic has to be a player who is enjoying his time as a professional tennis player the most. Djokovic always seems to be making jokes and doing funny ads and more. I would love to hang out with him on tour and just cause mayhem.
During Roland Garros Djokovic appeared at Ana Ivanovic’s press conference and pretended to be a journalist. At teh end of the new conference a “journalist” raised his hand and asked “Tell us something about your love or private life”.
Everybody then turned around to see Novak Djokovic asking the question. Novak was in the room because he had the press conference straight after Ana. Ana obviously didnt respond to the question but simply game him a hand shake on her way out.
“Well everybody asked only professional questions, why didn’t someone asked her something personal” – Nole continued joking when when he sat down ready to answer questions for his press conference.

After yesterday when I mentioned that there was a big upset at the French Open and it was the loss of Novak Djokovic, well today has got even better. Today both defending champions have been beaten, Rafael Nadal and Ana Ivanovic.
Rafael Nadal lost in four sets to Robin Soderling of Sweden 6-2 6-7 6-4 7-6. Nadal’s hopes of becoming the first player, man or woman, to win the French Open five times in a row are gone, dashed as the scintillating Swede played the game of his life.
After 31 consecutive match wins dating back to 2005, the King of Clay lost his first-ever match at the French Open and can have no complaints after playing on the back foot virtually throughout, while the inspired No23 seed blitzed him from every corner of the court.
Ana Ivanovic had a really tough day on court today after getting a little bit of a lesson from Victoria Azarenka of Belarus. The defending womens champion was never really in the match beaten 6-2 6-3. Azarenka will now face Dinara Safina who seems to be in amazing form. Safina defeated Aravane Rezai 6-0 6-1 in less than an hour.
Ana Ivanovic is optimistic about defending her French Open title, saying on Thursday that a niggling knee injury had died down.
“Thankfully the pain and inflammation in my knee has gone away so I have been able to practice this week,” the Serbian said. “My timing is pretty good at the moment and I’m optimistic about my chances of success in Paris.”
The world number eight has suffered a sharp loss of form since last year and pulled out of the Madrid Open earlier this month with the recurring injury, which worsened after her country’s Fed Cup win over Spain in April.
The 21-year-old from Belgrade will need a steep improvement in recent form to retain her crown at Roland Garros, which starts on Sunday, after plummeting down the WTA rankings from the number one spot she grabbed after taking last year’s title.
Ana Ivanovic withdrew from the Madrid Open because of a knee injury, but expects to be fit in time to defend her French Open title.
The seventh-ranked Serb is struggling with inflammation in her right knee. Doctors have ordered her not to play for a week.
Ivanovic said in a statement Friday that the knee has bothered her since a Fed Cup match last month. She said, “It’s become more painful with each match, so I decided to go and see a specialist in Munich.”
Ivanovic says there is “no danger” of her missing the French Open, which begins May 24.
Fernando Verdasco is enjoying a career-best start to the year, but perhaps even more intriguing than his ascendance to No. 8 in the world is the Spanish heartthrob’s love life. The 25-year-old Verdasco, who counts players Gisela Dulko of Argentina and Ana Ivanovic of Serbia among his exes, had Danish teenager Caroline Wozniacki in his cheering section during a match in Indian Wells last month. And Verdasco apparently returned the favor, showing up to watch Wozniacki’s fourth-round victory over Urszula Radwanska. The duo was photographed together (albeit alongside Urszula’s big sister Agnieszka) at the K-Swiss player party in Indian Wells.
