Maria Kirilenko’s Injury Didnt Help Russian Fed Cup Team

Maria Kirilenko was forced from the Russian Fed Cup lineup because she re-injured her leg. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova played in Maria’s place, but lost against both Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic. Serbia won the tie 3-2 with Jankovic sweeping Svetlana Kuznetsova, 6-1, 6-4, in the clinching match.

Pavlyuchenkova loses in Baku quarters with 27 double faults

In regard to the article about Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova winning a match at the Baku tournament with 25 double faults, I have decided to write a response article to that. And I agree that it’s amazing how she could’ve have won that match.

I report that she has lost in the quarters of the event to Kazakhstan’s Galina Voskoboeva with a score of 6-7(5) 6-4 6-3, and this time having more double faults than her last match at 27 total.

It really shocks me that one of the top players in the world could serve that much double faults, and it’s not a great way to promote yourself, or the WTA. My advice for her would be to focus on the serve when going training next time, if she really wants to step it up.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Serves 25 Double Faults in a Match and Still Wins

In a very strange match at the Baku Cup Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova served 25 double faults in a match and somehow found a way to still win.

Pavlyuchenkova ended up winning 7-5 6-4 over 274th-ranked Valeria Solovieva.

Pavlyuchenkova served 16 double faults in the first set alone.

Crazy!
