Daniel Koellerer Banned From Tennis for Life

Daniel Koellerer has just been suspended for life from tennis. The Tennis Integrity Unit found him guilty on three charges of match fixing.

“The life ban applies with immediate effect, and means Mr Koellerer is not eligible to participate in any tournament or competition organized or sanctioned by the governing bodies of professional tennis,” the TIU said in a statement.

Koellerer, who was also fined $100,000, has the right to appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Wimbledon Ban Vuvuzela’s

The sound of the World Cup is the vuvuzela, most people arent huge fans of the sound the product and that includes the All England Club chief executive.

The All England Club chief executive Ian Ritchie released a statement today asking people not to bring them to the grounds:

Out of courtesy to the players and their fellow spectators, we make a point of asking spectators not to bring items which could either cause a distraction or interfere with the enjoyment of the occasion.
Rattles, klaxons and vuvuzelas all fall into that category and they will not be allowed into the grounds. Our message is do not bring them in the first place.

Martina Hingis Still Proclaims She Is Innocent Over Drugs Ban

Martina Hingis has been a player at the top of the women’s game since she was only 16. Currently the star in serving her two year suspension for having cocaine in her system during Wimbledon back in 2007. Hingis claims she’s completely retired with no chance of returning after her sentence is served out.

She still proclaims her innocence, saying she has no idea how the banned substance entered her system, but gave up the court battle after losing her appeal in front of the International Tennis Federation in December 2007. Her suspension will last through October of 2009 and by then, she will be 29, not an age when she wants to start a third comeback.
