In order for Hingis to play in the Olympics, she would have to have a singles or doubles ranking by June 11, 2012, and in order for her to directly qualify, it would have to be a fairly high one of either top 56 in singles and top 10 in doubles. The ITF will only accept mixed doubles teams from players who are already on site in London having already qualified in singles or doubles.

“There are talks,” Hingis said in San Diego, where she was playing a pro-am. “There are too many ifs at this point. I always said I wasn’t coming back and I did, and after TeamTennis I felt good and with Serena winning Stanford [Hingis split matches with Williams in World TeamTennis]; it makes you think, ‘I played good against her and she beat Sharapova 3 and 1.’ So I’m like, ‘Wow I think I played a pretty good match’…But I don’t think I would last a whole match now. TeamTennis is only to five games.”

And she has also stated that there will be an immense amount of pressure on her since she is playing with a champion like Federer, ”To play with Roger you’d have to being playing great, right?’ she asked. She has also stated that she wanted to play doubles with Lindsay Davenport last year but that plan was never put into action. They did manage to win the 2011 French Open and Wimbledon seniors doubles titles.

“That’s probably more on my mind,” she said. “I felt great playing with Lindsay and people say we should go out on tour, but she’s pregnant. After the first set at Wimbledon she said, ‘I’m 12 weeks pregnant.’ I said, ‘OK, I’m the one running. I’ll back you up’…But I was never really just a doubles player; my pride was higher than that. But maybe now it’s a different approach. It would take a lot to bring me back. I enjoy the playing but the travel and the stress—my life is very comfortable now and I enjoy it.”
It would be great to see Martina and Roger play mixed doubles at the Olympics, but it seems highly unrealistic at this point since Hingis is not really eager to go back out on the tour. But we’ll see what happens, maybe the Swiss Miss will take the chance after all.

Former world No. 1 Lindsay Davenport is pregnant with her third child, and she will not play the World Team Tennis Pro League this summer.

Lindsay gave birth to a boy, Jagger Jonathan, on June 10, 2007, and then she gave birth to a girl, Lauren Andrus, on June 27, 2009.

Davenport, now 35, has won three Grand Slam singles titles and three Grand Slam doubles titles in her career.

Grand Slam champions Martina Navratilova and Lindsay Davenport have signed multiyear contract extensions with Tennis Channel.

Both are part of the channel’s coverage of the Australian Open, which starts in a week.

Navratilova will continue to be Tennis Channel’s lead match analyst in Melbourne. Davenport will work for the cable network at the season-opening major tournament for the first time, including sideline reporting.

Lindsay Davenport is planning to come back to the women’s doubles tour and will partner Liezel Huber.

Huber told Radio Roland Garros that Davenport has committed to play doubles at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, California and the Mercury Insurance Open in San Diego, California.Since leaving the Tour for the second time in 2008 due to the birth of her daughter Lauren, Davenport has been working as a television commentator, most notably for Tennis Channel.

Martina is already booked in to play the Wimbledon veteran doubles even this year with longtime doubles partner Anna Kournikova.

I didnt know but the BNP Paribas Open is the most attended tennis tournament outside of the Grand Slams. Thus, Lindsay and former ATP player Justin Gimelstob will have a lot of commentating to do at the event.
