Todd Woodbridge has told the AAP that Australia in general has got to stop being so reliant on Lleyton Hewitt. Hewitt is currently 31 and has been struggling for year with injuries.
“Lleyton needs to strategize now in Davis Cup to see what’s the best outcome for the team,” said Woodbridge, who owns the Australian Davis Cup record for most doubles wins with 25. “Playing the three matches is going to be very difficult for him. That workload needs to be shared around some of the younger members of the team. We need to get a new [doubles] partnership formed so you can leave Lleyton and Bernard (Tomic) to fill the singles. Then you’ve got a pretty solid team going.”
