Victoria Azarenka, currently ranked as the number one tennis player in the world has had quite a year so far. In addition to winning the 2012 Australian Open and earning a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, England, Azarenka has won the Generali Women’s Tennis Tournament in Linz, Austria. Victoria’s run for this title was amazing, advancing all the way to the semi-final round without dropping a single set and losing only eight games overall.

Azarenka, long considered a formidable player by everyone who has ever had to face her is most famous for her rivalry with American tennis player, Serena Williams. The two have met across the net eleven times so far, with Serena walking away victorious over Victoria ten times.

Fellow competitor, Ana Ivanovic also made it the higher rounds of the tournament but fell short of reaching the finals against Azarenka. Ivanovic, ranked at number twelve currently has won the Generali Women’s Tournament in the past, most recently in 2010. Ivanovic is described as one of the most aggressive players in the sport with very few real weaknesses to her game. She has been ranked number one in the past.

While the Tournament is over and done with now, there is likely to be a number of amazing merchandise deals that are remaining. If you are a tennis fan or just an admirer of these amazing players, you might be able to find the souvenir that will be perfect for yourself or as a gift for another. You may even be able to find items that were used in the actual tournament games for sale, depending on the amount that you are willing to spend for them. Some players will autograph a set number of tennis balls, for instance and then allow them to be sold, often for charity. Pictures and specially designed merchandise may also be found.

For higher priced items, which might even include used rackets and other gear, make sure that you are not rushing into a sale that you will regret. Don’t fall victim to some of the scams that are circulating and consider using your zero interest credit cards to pay for your purchase. That way, you have some buyer’s protection if your item does not arrive in the condition that you were hoping for and you will not have to pay extra money on your sports collectible purchases.
